Hi! I’m Jen, the voice behind Speckled. I spent the first 18 years of my life in the gorgeous mountainous state of Colorado. Since a young age, I’ve had my heart set on journalism, editorial work and the world of magazines. In pursuit of my dreams, I moved to Wisconsin and attended one of the best journalism schools in the country at the University of Wisconsin-Madison (I’m not biased in my reporting skills, but I’m biased about how great my school is!). After completing my B.A in journalism and communication arts, I moved to New York City with my boyfriend Jorge (who I often mention on my posts) and my sassy cat, Charlie.

Speckled, formerly The Macaron Queen, is a blog by a millennial woman geared towards millennial women (but really, all genders are welcome here!) who are interested in health, skincare and expressing yourself through beauty. Beauty has been a passion of mine since a young age. In high school, I discovered the world of YouTube beauty gurus, and my love only grew since then. I want this blog to be a platform where there is no “right” or “wrong” way in beauty. Because, really, there’s not. I believe that beauty is your tool to show the world who you are — makeup lets you paint your true self, skincare allows you to feel comfortable in the skin you were given and health is undeniably important to learn, explore and question on a day-to-day basis. So come along with me on my journey of discovery. Flick out your cat eyes. Rock your red lips. Embrace your bold brows. And, if you’re anything like me, flaunt your freckles, because there’s really nothing better than living #thespeckledlife .
