Hello, December! I can’t believe how fast this year is coming to an end (and it’s already time for November favorites — what?!). While part of me is so happy for the year to almost be over (I mean, honestly some of the shitiest things happened this year), it’s been a really bittersweet 365 days. I mean, this year is going to be one I remember forever. I graduated college, moved in with my boyfriend and got a big girl job in a big city. That’s something to celebrate.
And while there’s been so much to celebrate and take care of before the new year, I’ve been having a lot of fun in the beauty department of life. I’ve been testing out lots of products for the blog (I now have a designated “new products bin” sitting on my desk), and I’ve had a lot of newfound exposure to some really great products. Check out my favorites from this past month — and stay tuned for the end of December, I’m going to do a round-up of my December favorites and favorites from the whole year.
In case you didn’t know, I got bangs. Before this, I never had hair cut in New York. For one, it’s SO expensive to get your hair cut here. I have no clue why either. After a lot of research, I decided to get a shoulder-length chop and bangs at Fox & Jane. My stylist had been cutting hair FOREVER, and she was so great. She gave me my first razor cut and offered me advice on how to style the new cut.
Although I’ve admittedly had this product for several months, I hadn’t used it on a daily basis before because I usually let my hair dry overnight. With bangs, everything changes. I use this product when I blow dry my bangs in the morning. This product is so great. It doesn’t weigh my hair down or make my hair sticky/crunchy/nasty. Instead, it leaves my bangs toss-able and manageable.
The only downside to this product is the price tag, but a little goes a long way so I’m expecting my bottle to last me a while.
If I could marry a face lotion, it would be this one. No joke. I picked this up after hearing SO many people rave about its ability to help with dry skin and rosacea. I don’t personally have rosacea, so I can’t vouch for that, but I can say that my skin is loving this lotion. As I discussed in my recent installment of the Jen’s Skincare Journey post, I used this day and night every day of the week. Best of all, it’s fairly cost-effective, even cheaper than a lot of other face lotions I know at the drugstore.
I’m not looking forward to the day when I have to invest in a new clear brow gel. I’ve been going two months strong with the Sephora Play box sample I got of this brow gel. And, honestly, I think it’ the dumbest thing that I’ve fallen in love with a clear brow gel that’s so expensive, but it’s really that good. This gel keeps my brow in place, basically gluing them down and keeping my brow pencil stay put.
Estee Lalonde turned me onto these click sticks by ByTerry when she mentioned them in one of her recent favorites videos. I, like Estee, love this product so much. It’s a very comfortable formula, more moisturizing than your average matte lipstick. Although the staying power isn’t quite there, I love the formula and the color of this specific lipstick way too much to care. The color on my personal skin town is a very soft nudey-pink. It compliments my fair complexion very well, but I’m also excited to see what this shade would look like on someone with a darker skin tone than mine.
Two lip products in one favorites post?! I know, and I’m so sorry but I really couldn’t pick between these two. I have absolutely loved both these products. The Maybelline Lip Paint is the most peculiar product. This shade isn’t very pigmented, but it adds a beautiful tint of pink. The consistency is a combination of a gloss that’s not sticky and a liquid lipstick that doesn’t solidify. And finally, it has the most wonderful cherry sweet scent. I love throwing this product in my bag to just add a pop of something on my lips when I’m feeling jazzed up.
